2027 Scholarship Program

The Greater Houston Industrial Group is proud to offer scholarships to students connected to our member community. Our members power the Greater Houston area, and this program helps the next generation take the first step toward careers and college degrees that keep it strong.


Who Can Apply
We’re seeking students who:

  • Are graduating high school seniors with a record of community volunteerism in non-school-sponsored activities, along with involvement in school extracurriculars, or are currently enrolled at an accredited school, college, or university as a 2nd-, 3rd-, 4th-, or 5th-year student during the semesters the scholarship is received
  • Plan to attend a 2- or 4-year college or technical school as a full-time student
  • Have a minimum GPA of 2.5, a minimum SAT score of 1050, and a minimum ACT score of 22
  • Are a relative of a GHIG member in good standing who has paid dues for at least two consecutive years (membership is verified by GHIG; 2026 memberships are grandfathered in)


Membership Qualifications
GHIG requires two consecutive years of membership for an applicant to be considered. First-choice scholarships go to active GHIG members over employees of a member company. If interviews are needed, they will be scheduled after a GHIG meeting at the HASC Building.


How to Apply

  1. Download the application below.
  2. Complete it digitally. Please type your answers.
  3. Sign it. The student must sign the Statement of Accuracy by hand, and your supporting GHIG member must sign the Statement of Support. Print, sign, and scan the pages, then include them in your package.
  4. Assemble your package (checklist below).

Application Checklist

  • Completed application, signed by the student
  • Essay (250–500 words)
  • Resume or activity sheet, if applicable
  • GHIG member signature (Statement of Support)
  • Two letters of recommendation from non-family members
  • School transcript
  • SAT and ACT proof of score


Letters of Recommendation
Please provide the name and two email addresses for each reference. The second is a backup in case one doesn’t go through, so we suggest a work email and a personal email. Let your references know ahead of time that GHIG may reach out with a short questionnaire.


If You’re Selected
Scholarships will be awarded in May 2027. Funds are paid directly to the college, not the student. At that time, recipients submit an invoice for tuition and fees, their student ID number, and college information to GHIG. Winners are asked to attend the awards reception and agree to have their photo taken to help promote the program.


Important Deadline
Applications must be received by March 1, 2027, at 4:00 p.m. Late or incomplete applications cannot be considered.
